Is the Dry Ice Pellet Produced Considered Food-Grade?
When dry ice comes into direct or indirect contact with consumable products—such as in meat processing plants, commercial bakeries, or high-end catering—hygiene and safety are paramount. You will be pleased to know that the dry ice pellets produced by every machine in our SL series strictly meet food-grade standards (food-grade dry ice pellet).
This compliance is achieved through two critical engineering choices. First, the entire exterior casing and all internal components that handle the CO2 gas and solid ice are manufactured from premium SUS304 Stainless Steel. Unlike standard carbon steel, SUS304 is completely non-toxic, non-porous, and impervious to rust or corrosion caused by extreme cryogenic temperatures and workshop condensation.
Second, the hydraulic extrusion chamber of the SL series is designed to be completely isolated from the machine’s lubricating oils. This guarantees zero risk of oil contamination during the high-pressure pelletizing process. As long as you supply the pelletizer machine with food-grade liquid CO2 (widely available from standard gas suppliers), the resulting 1550 kg/m³ dry ice pellets are perfectly safe for cooling dough in industrial mixers, flash-freezing fresh berries, or packaging airline catering meals. The easy-to-clean stainless steel surfaces also ensure your facility easily passes rigorous FDA or local health department inspections.
